Frequently asked questions

What is a charity skydive?

A charity skydive is an exciting fundraising event where participants complete a tandem skydive to raise money for a charitable cause. You collect sponsorships or donations, and in return, you take the leap (literally!) from a plane with a professional instructor.

Do I need any experience to take part?

No experience is necessary! All jumps are tandem, meaning you’ll be securely attached to a fully qualified instructor who will handle everything during the jump.

Is it safe?

Skydiving in the UK is highly regulated. The instructors are fully qualified, and the equipment is rigorously maintained and checked. Safety is the top priority.

Who will we be doing the dive with?

Skydive Centre Ltd (Company number: 09581633) is a provider of skydiving and tandem skydiving jumps and courses, registered in England & Wales, with a registered office at Langley House, Park Road, Finchley, London N2 8EY.

Are there any medical guidelines?

Yes. All tandem jumpers are required to self certify and sign a British SkydivingTandem Student Parachutist Medical Information & Declaration Form (115A) in line with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and British Skydiving (BS).

https://www.skydivinglondon.com/forms/Form%20115A%20-%20Student%20Tandem%20Medical%20Self%20Declaration.pdf

If you have any conditions indicated in the form 115A then you will need to take the below form 115B to your GP for an assessment and get them to sign and stamp it – please bring this with you on the day of your skydive!

https://www.skydivinglondon.com/forms/Form%20115B%20-%20Student%20Tandem%20Doctors%20Certificate.pdf

Failure to have completed forms will incur an extra admin fee of £25 on the day.

What are the age, weight and height restrictions?

  • Minimum age: 16. Under 18’s will require parental/guardian consent and attendance.

  • Minimum weight is 7st while the Maximum weight: 15 stone (95.25kg) – fully clothed at the time of weighing on the day of the dive.

  • Minimum height is 4ft11. Those who have a height and/or weight under this will require a harness fitting assessment before being approved.

If you do not conform to the age, weight and health requirements of the (CAA) and the (BS) OR you do not have the correct paperwork required for skydiving, you will not be permitted to take part in any skydive.

How much do I need to raise?

The minimum sponsorship target is £650. A portion covers the cost of the skydive, and the rest goes to help NRF’s orphan appeal.

Do I have to pay anything myself?

As part of your registration, Skydive Centre Ltd requires a £50 deposit to secure your spot. The rest will be covered by your fundraising total. Some people choose to pay the jump cost themselves so 100% of donations go to NRF’s orphan appeal.

Where and when do the jumps take place?

Our group dive will take place on Saturday the 18th of October at Hinton Airfield Farm, Steane, Brackley Northants, NN13 5NS.

If for whatever reason you can’t make the group dive date, don’t worry we can book you a time and location that suits you. Check in with us for more assistance.

What if the weather is bad on the day?

Skydiving is weather dependent. If your jump is cancelled due to poor weather or any other technical reason it will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

Can I cancel or change the date of my Skydive?

Yes. Should you wish to cancel your booking, your request must be made within 14 days of booking, in email to Skydive Centre Ltd cc’ing fundraising@nrf.org.uk.

Changing a date – Any changes to your chosen dates should be notified to Skydive Centre Ltd cc’ing fundraising@nrf.org.uk within 14 days.
